Q. What makes Commander K9 different?
A. Well I am a certified canine behaviour therapist and trainer for one. This really helps when we are out for walks because I am trained to read a dog’s body language and avoid any potential issues with other dogs. We like to walk dogs both in off leash parks and trails so dogs get both a good walk and play time. We walk rain or shine and provide a written report of every walk. Our boarding clients get to go on our daily walks too. Because our space is limited, we only board 2-3 dogs max, so dogs are treated like they are at home (except they have buddies to play with).

Q. Does Commander K9 have a mission statement?
A. Yes we do. We follow the guidelines of the Professional Dog Walkers Association. We will be happy to email you a copy of our Code of Ethics and Conducts.

Q. Do you do group walks on or off leash?
A. We do both. Some types of walks are better suited for certain dogs. We always screen our dogs for compatibility. We adhere to the professional dog walker standard of walking 6 dogs or less at one time per walker. If we do go to off leash parks, we typically keep to the trails and away from strange or unfamiliar dogs if at all possible.

Q. Do I have to commit to walking for my dog 5 days a week?
A. No. We are flexible and can walk your dog any number of days a week. Some clients like to have their dogs walked 5 days a week, others 1 or 2 times a month, it’s your choice.

Q. What area do you service?
A. Currently, for our walking clients, we work in Surrey, mostly North Surrey, Fraser Heights, Fleetwood, Guildford and Green Timbers. For boarding, we have clients from all over the Lower Mainland, We also offer pick up and drop off of your dog too.

Q. Are you a dog trainer?
A. Yes. Before I started up Commander K9 in 2009, I was a trainer for the world’s largest dog training company Bark Busters. There are many styles of dog training and the one I prefer is similar to Cesar Milan from the Dog Whisperer fame. When I was with Bark Busters, my territory was named “best of the best” dog trainer by the Vancouver magazine in 2006 best of the best edition.

Q. What if my pet becomes ill or injured while I am away, or while he/she is out on a walk?
A. I am certified in level 1 and 2 canine first aid from Dog Safe, and always have a canine first aid kit and water close by. We will assess your pet’s condition and, if need be, contact you, your emergency contact and if needed your veterinarian or 24 hour emergency facility. If your dog requires medical care, we will contact you as soon as possible at your emergency numbers on file and keep you informed throughout their treatment.

Q. What types of payment do you take?
A. Currently we except cash and cheques. All fees are to be paid prior to service. For our walking clients, a 10 pack of walks (buy 10 get one free) or pay as you go is a great option. We provide an invoice for all our clients. And our boarding clients receive an invoice along with a report card of their dog’s stay.
